Meet Avion the Mogul – Licensed Etiquette Consultant & Founder of Opulence Etiquette, Mentor & Motivational Speaker

 

Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I was fortunate to enjoy simple comforts unlike the stereotypical notion we have about 3rd world countries. When I moved to Brooklyn, the most things remained the same, but the culture around me was different. I found myself surrounded by new traditions, perspectives, and ways of life. I embraced these differences wholeheartedly and began to observe how culture shapes behavior and character.

 

As a young woman, I didn’t have a mentor to guide me through life’s finer details — no one to show me what true etiquette meant, no "debutante" or "high society" surroundings. I had to seek it out myself. I made a conscious decision to put myself in environments where I could learn and grow. I studied people, watched films that portrayed poise and elegance, read books and practiced how to carry myself with grace. From how to sit and greet others, to how to speak with confidence — I was building the foundation for the woman I wanted to become.

 

In 2010, life took me to Las Vegas, where I met Mrs. Lusha Carter (1st Lady) of my church. Mrs. Carter became one of the most influential figures in my life. She taught me the essence of being a lady — how to sit, the purpose of a lap scarf, and even how to give a respectful hug, (YES there is such a thing). Her mantra, “Be a ladybug” — to always be pretty, graceful, and respected — resonated deeply with me. Through her example, I discovered my true calling: becoming an etiquette coach.

 

Over the years, I’ve realized how much of the elegance and courtesy that once defined our society has faded. Many young people have never been taught the simple yet powerful lessons of etiquette — how to hold a wine glass, how to sit or stand with proper posture, or how to communicate with respect and confidence. These are timeless skills that build self-assurance and leave lasting impressions.

 

Today, through Opulence Etiquette, I’m dedicated to reintroducing those values into our families, schools, and businesses. My mission is to meet you exactly where you are — whether you’re just beginning your journey or refining your presence — and guide you toward embodying grace, confidence, and class in every aspect of your life.
